Kimberly grew up in New Hampshire where she started riding for a hunter/jumper barn in New Boston. There she trained with Betsy Moody, sister of the famous dressage rider George Williams. At the young age of 11 she was introduced to dressage. At the age of 13 she impressive everyone when she got aboard a 17.3H Warmblood gelding and schooled it Second Level dressage (of course with some instruction). She then moved to Colorado where she joined the United States Pony Club, her first taste for eventing. She progressed well showing dressage and combined training in addition to working with 'A' trainer Sarah Shriaberg in Fort Collins, CO. Kim began training and exercising horses primarily for the use in jumping lessons. Kim competed in a little bit of everything from eventing, dressage, and hunters. Primarily, Kim took this opportunity to show in hunters and dressage on the famous Fort Collins mare, Feather (Sharky's Storm). At 14.2H this little mare showed in Preliminary Combined Tests, showed First Level dressage, and schooled over 4 foot fences.
Kim later joined the Air Force where she picked up part time jobs re-training spoiled horses, breaking babies, and training ex-racehorses for the dressage and hunter ring. She then landed a part-time Assistant Manager position in Virginia at a local hunter/jumper barn. She was also an independent trainer in Virginia traveling around the Virginia Beach Area dedicating most of her time to junior riders pursuing their goals on the Suffolk Horse Show Association and Virginia Horse Show Association. She began exercising Fourth Level Dressage horses and training greenies through the First Level. In addition, she was given the opportunity to exercise Grand Prix dressage horses…no complaints there!
Kim had no money in the Air Force and missed owning a horse. Only a year went by when Kim decided it was too long without an equine partner, so she rescued a 16.2H ex-racehorse from the slaughter house. She kept busy with her young TB gelding that she completely trained. She showed this lovely boy on the Virginia Hunter Circuits and received a large amount of awards in the equitation ring (Including year-end awards with the Suffolk Horse Show Association). Currently this gelding shows in First Level Dressage and attends CHJA shows in jumpers and schooling hunters.
Currently Kimberly shows on the USEF, RMDS, and CHJA circuits.
Kimberly has a B.A. in Business Technology and is currently enrolled in Midway College's online degree completion program in the Equine Industry.
Kimberly is ARIA Hunt Seat Level II Certified.
